Why I Will Be Celebrating This Independence Day: A note from Executive Vice President Harriet McDonald

Dear Friend,

The Fourth of July has always been one of my favorite holidays, and I relish the chance to spend time with family and friends while enjoying all that the day has to offer: parades, fireworks, and an extraordinary display of patriotism.

But as the holiday approaches each summer, I look forward to the true celebration – the celebration of the journey that The Doe Fund’s “men in blue” take toward independence.

With each sweep of the broom, these formerly homeless men are taking enormous steps toward self-sufficiency and lives free from dependence on drugs and crime. Behind the bucket, they are fathers, former foster care children, and veterans. Beyond the bucket, they all have one thing in common: they are hardworking men committed to changing their lives for the better.

Each day, these brave men fight the cycles of dependency that used to hold them down. And it is your support that provides the critical tools for transformation that help them on their journeys.

Speaking of journeys, we’re thrilled to offer the chance for you to take an incredible journey of your own during our annual raffle! Buy your tickets today for the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime vacation to a private estate in Grand Cayman, and remember, all proceeds benefit the “men in blue.”

On behalf of the “men in blue” and all of us at The Doe Fund, thank you for your support!

Warmest regards,

Harriet McDonald
Executive Vice President
