RELEASE: The Doe Fund Receives Grant from The People’s United Community Foundation

NEW YORK, August 10, 2016–The Doe Fund announced today receipt of a $5,000 grant from the People’s United Community Foundation. The grant, which was awarded for The Doe Fund’s Ready, Willing & Able transitional work program, marks the third consecutive year the People’s United Community Foundation has generously supported the program.

Ready, Willing & Able addresses the root causes of recidivism, homelessness and poverty by transitioning formerly incarcerated and formerly homeless men to the mainstream through a combination of paid work, transitional housing, professional career training, comprehensive social services, and case management. Over the course of more than twenty-five years, the program has helped deliver tens of thousands of men back to their families and communities as productive, stable members of society.

The People’s United Community Foundation grant will be invested in the Ready, Willing & Able programs at The Doe Fund’s residential facilities in Harlem and Brooklyn. The three facilities collectively serve more than 1,000 men at any given time.
